The city of Irvine is experiencing the birth of Orange County Great Park (OCGP). Currently in its infancy, the park offers well-groomed, spacious grassy areas for picnicking or rambunctious frolicking and FREE rides in a big orange helium balloon but not much else. As the park grows, it's ultimate goal is to become a huge urban park bigger than NYC's Central Park including entertainment venues, hiking/running trails, and athletic fields.

Balloon rides in the big orange balloon last about 10 minutes and ascend to 400' (the balloon is 100' tall so the top of the balloon reaches an altitude of 500'). You must register and sign a waiver about 15 minutes prior to your flight. The balloon "flies" Thurs-Sun in the mornings and evenings weather permitting. Parking is free unless there's a special event (concert, outdoor movie screening or the like).
