Orange County Great Park not only offers free balloon rides, but Jan 30-Feb 28, will offer free ice skating including free skate rentals.

Free ice skating is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11am-10pm. Check the website for details on exact skate session times, advance tickets, renting skates, and optional (free) helmet rentals. It's all free!

OCGP is in Irvine on the site of the old El Toro Marine base; it is being re-purposed into a great urban park. There is a nice grassy area for picnicking and free rides on an orange helium balloon year-round Thursdays-Sundays. Check website for flying times and details. I've flown on the balloon and it is fun!
